Apollo

Apollo

The Apollo chair, where the prisoners would be strapped and given electric shocks and whipped until they would confess to their crimes, a helmet would also be put on their heads to prevent them from screaming and therefore making torture even harder for them

It was one of the most familiar and terrifying means of torture for prisoners

The reason it was named Apollo was because of its resemblance to the Apollo spacecraft, in this device, the prisoner’s head was restrained with a metal chamber and the arms and legs were fixed by metal fasteners. In this way, the metal helmet intensified the prisoner’s voice during the flogging and had a double and destructive effect on his nervous and auditory systems. On the other hand, the metal packages themselves were tied very tightly, which injured the skin, flesh and bones of the wrists and legs. Sometimes, in addition to the whip, an electric shock was given. In such a way that low-voltage, non-lethal, and simply shocking and painful electricity was connected to sensitive parts of the body, including the eardrums, lips, nose, and even the penis of a prisoner. The Shock, which destroyed the walls of capillaries and cells, causing internal and renal bleeding, and subsequently the excretion of blood in the urine for several days after shock and flogging
